Pokémon Black and White Tournament [4-18-11]

Hey Pokémon fans! I hope you are all excited as I am for our first-ever Pokémon tournament!! "Why would you be hosting a Pokémon tournament?" you might ask. Well, here's the answer: a large amount of our forum members play the games and its a way to attract more people. I'm here to tell you all you will need to know about this tournament.

Date, Time, and Location
This tournament takes place on Monday, April 18, 2011. The tournament will begin at 3:00pm Eastern Standard Time. That is equivalent to 2:00pm CST, 1:00pm MST, and 12:00pm PST. There is no set time for it to end, but it will probably only last 1-2 hours. Discussion and chatting during the tournament will take place on this thread and on the EpicPikachu chat.

Requirements to have this Tournament
We must get 8 people for this tournament. I suppose we could have it with only 4, but I don't want that to happen. We cannot have more than 8 people. The first 8 people to register will be accepted into the tournament. To register, ~~you must post saying "I would like to sign up for the 3/12/11 tournament."~~ you must sign-up here.

Tournament Rules
There are many rules for this tournament.

Pokémon that have been created in Pokesav or leveled up by Rare Candy cheats are allowed in this tournament. The latter is not recommended as the Pokémon will be abnormally weak.
5th generation Uber tier is not allowed. All Pokémon in this tier are banned from play. The Uber tier is as follows:
1. Arceus
2. Dialga
3. Giratina
4. Giratina-O
5. Groudon
6. Ho-Oh
7. Kyogre
8. Lugia
9. Mewtwo
10. Palkia
11. Rayquaza
12. Reshiram
13. Zekrom
All Dream World abilities are allowed.
All held items are allowed.
The ~~Miracle Shooter~~ Wonder Launcher is not allowed to be activated during this tournament.
All Pokémon can have no more than 510 Effort Values and no more than 255 EVs for each stat.
All Pokémon can have no more than 186 Effort Values and no more than 31 for each stat.
All Pokémon must have legal movesets and legal abilities. Legal movesets include special movesets that only an event-exclusive version of the Pokémon can learn (ex. Entei with Flare Blitz).
Shiny Pokémon are allowed.
Any form of any legal Pokémon (any Pokémon that is not Uber) is allowed.

Other Information
At the time of the tournament, everyone is to submit their Friend Code on a post on this thread. The battles will be randomly selected. There will be four battles in the first round; the winners of battle 1 and 2 will battle and the winners of battle 3 and 4 will face off in the second round. In the final round, the winners of the 2 battles on the second round will face off in the championship match. The winner of that match will win the tournament. You can post the match progress here was we chat about the battles on this thread or you can chat about it on the EpicPikachu chat. Results and match-ups will be listed on this thread and on the chat.

Hmm... the differences are a matter of personal preference. See, I prefer Braviary and Reuniclus whose pre-evos only appear in White to Mandibuzz and Gothitelle whose pre-evos only appear in Black; the legendary doesn't matter to me; at the same time, I like the futuristic feel that Black gives with things such as Black City. So I don't know what you should get. Also, I responded to your PM.

I wanted to mention to everyone thinking about participating in this tournament who has done 4th gen competitive battles that 5th gen is very different. There is a significant difference in the Uber tier list removing Lati@s, Darkrai, Garchomp, Salamence ect. I'm sure there will an update to the list in the future (I won't change it for the tournament though) when it appears on Smogon adding more Pokémon to the Uber tier.

Only one sign-up, eh? That, plus me, equals two. So we have 8 days to get 6 more people. That's... approximately 1.3 people a day, so about 1, which is unlikely. I know Wiibob wants to sign up! ... xD

I don't know if I could. It's pretty unlikely that I'll get something worth $65 on the spot. Laughing

They cost $65!? They only cost $35 in America... Why $65!? I know they cost that much when importing from, say, Japan, but not in-country!!!!

I am making a Pokémon ROM Hack, a hack of Pokémon Fire Red version. I will post Beta 1 on the forums when it is completed. Its gonna be pretty cool, if I do say so myself. I've added numerous Pokémon from the fourth and fifth generation of Pokémon, namely Snivy, Servine, Serperior, Tepig, Pignite, Emboar, Oshawott, Dewott, and Samurott as starters and their evolutions; Pidove, Tranquill, and Unfezant (replacing random Pokémon; Unfezant is the male version) will share the title of the game's 3-evo bird family with Pidgey, Pidgeotto, and Pidgeot. Taillow, Swellow will also be in the game, as well as Rufflet and Braviary (replacing Spearow and Fearow). Riolu and Lucario will replace Phanpy and Donphan, and Zorua and Zoroark will replace Pineco and Foretress. I replaced the Gen I pseudo-legendary family (Dratini, Dragonair, and Dragonite) with Gible, Gabite, and Garchomp; I replaced the Gen III Dragon-type pseudo-legendary family (Bagon, Shelgon, and Salamence) with Deino, Zweilous, and Hydreigon, the Gen V pseudo-legendary family. Sewaddle, Swadloon, and Leavanny replace Weedle, Kakuna, and Beedrill and "share the region" with Caterpie, just as Pidove and Pidgey will share. Rattata and Raticate are replaced with Patrat and Watchog. Drilbur and Excadrill have replaced Sandshrew and Sandslash as well.

As you can see, a lot of Pokémon have already been inserted into the game. There will most likely be Fakemon by the 2nd or 3rd Beta. Also, 4th and 5th gen sprites have been added to many Pokémon such as the Gen I starters and many Pokémon early in the Kanto Dex; every Pokémon from Gen I - III in the game will at least have an updated front-sprite. I guess I should note that Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, and their families have been replaced with the Gen V starters (and the Gen I starters will be in the game [trainers will have them] along with the Gen III starters, Gen IV starters will probably not make an appearance). Many other Pokémon are going to be inserted such as Woobat, Swoobat; Scraggy, Scrafty; Ducklett, Swanna; Frillish (male) Jellicent (male); Joltik, Galvantula; Tynamo, Eelektrik, Eelektross; Litwick, Lampent, Chandelure; Axew, Fraxure, Haxorus; Cobalion, Terrakion, Virizion; and Victini. Can you guess who they might replace?

In addition to these Pokémon, there will be a completely different plot, completely different areas, scripts, gym leaders, evil team (or at least its goals), and legendary Pokémon (Fakemon), but hey—its a brand new region, so that's standard. Anyone interested?

OT: Wow. Already all of that in the game. I suppose I could help with the tiling (Advanced Map, FTW) and text but other than that, I don't really know how to do all of the "major stuff" (battle coding, inserting Pokémon, etc). Anyways I could also help with the beta testing.

I'll have to look up the difference between the United States dollar and the Australian dollar(?) xD.

Edit: They say 1.00 USD = 1.09321 AUD. That makes the $65 AUD it takes to buy B/W there about $60 USD, so still not much of a comparison. These are some random questions: How much is an average candy bar, pack of gum, loaf of bread, gallon of milk?

I can do one of two things... I can take requests for making Pokémon to use for you guys.... or making an in-depth 5th Generation strategy guide. I recommend the guide, because it will tell you the best Pokémon to use and how to use them ect.
